Milan, June 26th 2013 – «The request for a Memorandum of Understanding concerning the compulsory purchases relating to the building of TEEM put forward today by farmers’ groups at the round-table discussion convened by Concessioni Autostradali Lombarde is not only to be commended but is also in line with Tangenziale Est SpA’s commitment to the transparent management of the procedures initiated after the project was declared a work of public utility and with its belief in the right to fair compensation of persons in the affected sector whose lands are being occupied,” declared the CEO of TE Stephen Maullu this afternoon with reference to the outcome of this morning’s meeting. Tangenziale Est SpA has, moreover, already successfully completed 168 purchases (with 32 million euro of compensation already paid or due for payment) and entered into only seven lawsuits with more than 1,176 land occupations already processed. I hope, therefore, that the signing of an agreement by the parties this morning and the effective formation of a technical committee today will expedite the definition and subsequent ratification by the Region of a Memorandum of Understanding similar in form to that used by BreBeMi. Work on the wording of the Memorandum of Understanding can already get under way as of next Friday at the meeting with farmers’ groups in Palazzo Lombardia. Pending the activation of the Protocol, to which the contribution of farmers’ groups is essential, Tangenziale Est SpA will continue to make every effort to minimize the inconvenience for farmers and the consumption of land».
